Smile Care

Helpful hygiene habits
We’re here to help keep your smile in top shape! Proper brushing is essential for maintaining oral health, especially with braces. We’ll guide you on the best techniques for keeping your teeth and gums healthy. Don’t hesitate to ask questions- your smile is our priority!

Brushing
Oral hygiene is an important part of your orthodontic treatment plan. If you have braces, it is important to learn the best way to brush and floss. A proper oral hygiene routine will keep your gums and teeth healthy during treatment.

Flossing
Initially, flossing with braces may seem like an arduous task because you now have a wire between your teeth to floss. However you can navigate this by slipping the floss under the wire, and floss normally. Be sure to apply light force to avoid damaging the braces.

Proxy Brushing
Also known as interdental brushes, these small, cone-shaped brushes are designed to clean between teeth and along the gumline. The soft bristles are gentle on the gums, reducing the risk of irritation and bleeding compared to flossing, especially in sensitive areas. (Water picks are also a great investment!)
